About a mile west of Dubach, Louisiana, on state highway LA 151, stands the historic Autrey House. Built in the architectural ‘dogtrot style’, it was erected in 1849 and is believed to be the oldest building in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.

Today, the Autrey House is a museum operated by the Lincoln Parish Museum and Historical Society.
It is steeped in history.
The small family cemetery plot located behind the house remains to this day, with headstones dating back to the late 1800s. This additional layer of history tied to the Autrey House creates even more interest and nostalgia for me.

Recently, I was photographing areas of nearby Dubach along with the historic Unionville General Store and decided to create images of the Autrey House.

Oddly enough, despite living around and having close ties to this (general) area for years, I’d never truly visited the Autrey House.
My biggest hope and overall goal is that the images I captured during this visit preserve the Autrey House’s story for future generations.
I hope you enjoy them.
