Hidden along a rural Louisiana road, this small cemetery first appeared as another quiet stop beneath the trees. I was quite unfamilar with this specific section of the parish I was in. Looking at the few visible headstones revealed something more than names and dates.
Most of these headstones were very old indeed!
I am actually surprised this particular cemetery is not listed on some kind of historical marker location society (or the equivalent). The range of dates on the headstones and their contents tells the story without the need for words.
Places like this often become small historical records, preserving generations of families and pieces of local history that might otherwise disappear with time.
This cemetery is being documented as part of Louisiana’s landscape and local history.
