Winter Storm Fern In North Louisiana

The weekend of January 24th and 25th, 2026, North Louisiana, along with large portions of surrounding areas and states, was hit with a massive ice storm. The amount of ice that fell is typically unprecedented for this area.

I’m guesstimating around 6 inches (or more) of accumulation over Saturday and Sunday. As you can imagine, this resulted in widespread power outages and unsafe driving conditions.

Thankfully, my household and my 2 adult daughters’ households were fortunate enough not to lose power (somehow). Once most of the sleet and freezing rain had passed through, I documented the scenery around my current residence.

The following images were all taken on Sunday, January 25th, 2026. I used a Nikon Z50 paired with an FTZ adapter and an AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens. All JPEGs were edited with the Snapseed app software.
