I’ve had an idea for a photography project centered around streets in Ruston, Louisiana, that are named after a state in the US, for a while now. The overall premise is to document and photograph areas and subjects of interest along that street that may directly (or indirectly) relate to that particular state.
Today, I started with Carolina Avenue. And I am choosing black and white for the majority of this work.
I’ll admit, I know very little about the Carolinas. Also, finding direct correlations for tobacco and cotton fields (things those states could be associated with, according to some broad online searches) proved difficult at best.
However, I would not let that deter me from at least kicking this photography project off, settling for an overall ‘Quiet, Slower Rhythm’ type of theme instead.
The following pictures of Magnolia trees, bricks, iron railings and gates, weathered paint, and lampposts spoke to me the most about Carolina. I hope you like them!
📷 These images were created with a Canon EOS RP and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. I used the Snapseed app for edits on the JPEGs.
