In my opinion, a sky with no clouds is boring. While I do like a bright, blue sky at times, give me one with puffy white clouds any day.
It’s no secret that I like black and white photography. It’s my favorite way of capturing details and moments in time.
One evening, I was looking for interesting light and plant textures in the woods around the house and noticed the sky was just as I like it.
I typically keep my Nikon Z50 color profile set to Monochrome even if I plan to edit and keep the final pictures in color. This allows me to see through the viewfinder in black and white.
I have a custom Black & White Film color profile based on the instructions found in this article, which I created a couple of years ago but hardly ever use.
I don’t necessarily think the Black & White Film color profile is the perfect look all the time for everything, and I’m sure others would agree. But it seems to work really well for puffy white, cloud-filled skies.
All of these images were created with a Nikon Z50 and an FTZ-adapted AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens.
