Documenting Ruston – O’Neal’s Feed Store

I recall buying high-protein dog food for my male Rottweiler from O’Neal’s feed store as a young adult in the mid-90s. As best as I can remember, those goods were sold one building over to the west (same lot, on the left) from the structure I am sharing pictures of in this article. At one time, there was a new(er) O’Neal’s feed store over on Bonner Street, but I am not sure if it is there anymore or even affiliated with this one.

Admittedly, I haven’t paid much attention to this section of Ruston in several years. However, a short time ago, I noticed the Ruston mural on the east side of the building and made a note to return there and create some images of it.

The last picture of the steel Eagle and globe is my favorite out of them all. The bright setting sun from the West made for some very interesting shadows.

I used a Canon EOS RP camera and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens to create these images. They are straight out of camera jpegs with no editing other than minor cropping and horizontal adjustments.

This picture was slightly edited with the Snapseed app.

Edit: I returned to this location on 09/28/2025 and created the 4 images below.
